BRYAN HASSELL: GUITAR AND VOCALS
JAMES COOPER: DRUMS
KEVIN RONAN: LEAD GUITAR
JUAN PABLO BLANCO: BASS

FORMED IN 2013 BY VOCALIST AND GUITARIST BRYAN HASSELL AND DRUMMER JAMES COOPER, CITY OF DIS CAME TOGETHER BY ADDING KEVIN RONAN ON GUITAR AND JUAN PABLO BLANCO ON BASS THE FOLLOWING YEAR. THE BAND SLOWLY DEVELOPED A SOUND THAT COMBINED THEIR VARIED INFLUENCES, FROM PROGRESSIVE ROCK AND METAL TO GRUNGE AND SLUDGE. THE BAND DEVELOPED ITS SOUND BY PLAYING LIVE ALL OVER MASSACHUSETTS, RHODE ISLAND, AND NEW YORK WHILE CONTINUING TO HONE THEIR CRAFT AND CREATE A UNIQUE TAKE ON PROGRESSIVE METAL. AFTER A FEW YEARS OF SONGWRITING AND TESTING THAT MATERIAL LIVE, THEIR SELF-PRODUCED, SELF-RELEASED DEBUT RECORD, A FLAWED DESIGN, WAS RELEASED IN 2017. THE BAND CONTINUED TO PUSH INTO HEAVIER TERRITORY AND INTRODUCED A MORE VARIED VOCAL APPROACH ADDING MORE HARSH VOCALS INTO THE MIX. THE THREE-VOCALIST APPROACH OF BRYAN, JAMES, AND JUAN PABLO ALLOWED THE BAND TO EXPAND THEIR SOUND. THOUGH INTERRUPTED BY THE PANDEMIC, THE BAND CONTINUED WORKING ON THE FOLLOW-UP TO A FLAWED DESIGN RELEASING THEIR LATEST, ALTERITY, IN 2022 – A CULMINATION OF YEARS OF INTENSE SONG CRAFTING THAT CAPTURED THE BREADTH OF SOUND THE BAND WAS ABLE TO PRODUCE WHILE REMAINING FOCUSED AND COHESIVE. HEAVIER SONGS LIKE “ALTERITY” AND “THROUGH PURGATORY,” WHICH THE BAND RELEASED MUSIC VIDEOS FOR. THOSE SONGS WERE BALANCED OUT WITH MORE MELODIC PIECES LIKE “THE GOLDEN PATH” AND “DISTAL.” CITY OF DIS IS NOW WORKING ON THE FOLLOW-UP TO ALTERITY AND PUSHING ITS SOUND TO EVEN HEAVIER TERRITORIES WHILE RETAINING THE CORE OF ITS PROGRESSIVE METAL SOUND. THIS NEW BATCH OF SONGS BRING INTO THEIR SOUND INFLUENCES FROM POST-METAL, INCLUDING MORE TEXTURE AND ATMOSPHERE WHILE RETAINING CITY OF DIS’ DRIVING SOUND. THEY CONTINUE TO PERFORM LIVE THROUGHOUT THE NORTHEAST AND KEEP BUILDING ON WHAT THEY HAVE BEEN CREATING FOR ALMOST A DECADE.
