bikethrasher is a Boston based emo/indie punk band formed by singer and dguitarist Joe Love and guitarist Jake Mandl. Named after an unreleased song by Swedish dream pop darlings The Radio Dept, bikethrasher delivers songs simultaneously rapturous and tormented, capturing the ecstatic highs and chaotic lows of the human condition. Described as “heavy and groovy,” their unique blend of punk emphasizes indelible melodies, whiplash-inducing sonic range and haunting lyrics that coalesce into a sound that is simultaneously grating, intoxicating and sybilline. The band formed in late 2021 after years of discussion and deliberation between college friends Joe Love and Jake Mandl, who were quickly joined by Mandl’s former coworker Kevin Delprete. Originally intended to be a dream pop/shoegaze act, the band settled into a harder-edged punk oriented sound after several lineup changes. Debuting with the fraught Cursed EP in November of 2022, bikethrasher quickly established themselves as an intense, and often irreverent, live act. bikethrasher is currently working on their sophomore EP, Relaxer, slated for release in May 2024.
